The history of Invicta watches begins in 1837 with the first affordable timepiece crafted by Swiss watchmaker, Raphael Picard. His thinking was that Swiss quality, durability and beauty ought to be available to everyone at an affordable price. His new brand was named for the Latin word “invincible” – Invicta.
The Invicta Watch Group is arguably the fastest growing watch manufacturer in the business. This being true, it is hard to believe that during the 1970s they almost stopped due to the craze in Quarts watches. However, building on their strong foundation of watch manufacturing, the brand was able to make a stronger comeback than some other inferior brands. After the sluggish sales period of the 1970s, the Invicta Watch Group continued to appeal to watch lovers who recognized value to be more than just price. Collectors began to see the ingenuity behind the Pro Diver and the beauty and elegance of the Angel and Elite lines. Some would even argue that these Invicta watches are better than many of the more expensively priced Swiss made brands.
